The Boston University men’s lacrosse team will play its final regular-season game against Holy Cross on Friday, April 24. The matchup is set for a 6 p.m. start at Kuzniewski Field in Worcester, Massachusetts, with the winner earning a point in the Turnpike Trophy standings.

This game holds significance as Boston University enters the contest tied atop the Patriot League standings with Army West Point and Loyola Maryland. To secure the top seed in the league tournament, BU must defeat Holy Cross and hope Loyola loses to Navy. For an assured bye into the semifinals, BU needs to win and have either Army lose to Colgate or Loyola fall to Navy. If BU loses or if all three teams win their games, BU will be seeded third and host a quarterfinal game next Tuesday at Nickerson Field.

BU comes into this matchup after celebrating Senior Day with a decisive 13-2 victory over Lafayette last Saturday. Graduate student Michael Allieri was recognized as Patriot League Goalkeeper of the Week for his performance, making a season-high 12 saves while allowing only one standard goal in his first start for BU. Allieri has recorded 23 saves and allowed just five goals over his last 85 minutes of play.

Sophomore Timothy Shannehan leads NCAA Division I players in points per game (5.33) this season and is currently fourth nationally with 64 total points from 33 goals and 31 assists across twelve starts. Senior Jimmy Kohr leads BU with 34 goals and has scored in each of his last twenty-eight games dating back to last year.

In previous meetings between these teams, Boston University holds a strong record of nine wins out of eleven games against Holy Cross, including eight consecutive victories since their overtime win in the final game of the 2017 season.

Holy Cross enters Friday’s contest having improved its record from last year but has lost four out of its past five games. Sophomore Owen Tunney leads Holy Cross offensively while freshman Shane McDonnell matches Terrier sophomore Madden Murphy atop conference faceoff statistics.
