Boston University will play against Loyola Maryland in a men’s lacrosse game on April 4, as both teams are tied for first place in the Patriot League standings. The match is set to take place at Ridley Athletic Complex in Baltimore and will be streamed live on ESPN+ starting at noon.

This game holds significance as it features the top two teams in the conference, each with a 3-1 record. Both programs have shown strong performances this season and are looking to gain an edge heading into the latter part of league play.

Boston University has not played since March 24, when it lost to then-No. 3 Harvard by a score of 14-11. In that game, sophomore Andrew Pape contributed four points with two goals and two assists, while senior Jimmy Kohr scored three goals—marking his twenty-fifth consecutive game with a goal and at least two points per contest. Sophomore Timothy Shannehan also had one goal and two assists, tying a program record by reaching over fifty goals and fifty assists within his first twenty-five career games. Shannehan currently leads BU with twenty-six goals, twenty-one assists, and forty-seven points this season.

On special teams, Boston University has excelled by scoring three man-up goals in each of its last two games and currently ranks seventh nationally—and first in the Patriot League—with a man-up success rate of nearly sixty-nine percent. The Terriers also lead the nation in caused turnovers per game (13.22) and hold opponents to just under sixty-nine percent clearing efficiency.

Loyola enters Saturday’s contest after back-to-back wins over Bucknell (13-12) and Holy Cross (10-8). Senior Max Watkinson was named Patriot League Goalkeeper of the Week following his fifteen-save performance against Holy Cross; he holds a save percentage just above fifty-one percent this year. Sophomore Mason Cook leads Loyola with thirty-seven goals and forty-four points overall.

The all-time series between Boston University and Loyola is even at six wins apiece since both joined the Patriot League for the 2014 season. BU has won five of their last six meetings but fell short against Loyola during last year’s league semifinals.
