The No. 12 Boston University men’s rowing team will travel to face No. 13 Cornell on Saturday, April 11, concluding its dual racing schedule for the spring season. The first of five scheduled races is set to begin at 1:30 p.m.

This matchup marks a significant event as it is the first dual race between Boston University and Cornell during Head Coach Thomas Bohrer’s 18-year tenure. The teams will compete in several events, including the Fourth & Fifth Varsity Eight, Third Varsity Eight, Second Varsity Eight, and Varsity Eight races.

Last weekend, Boston University raced against No. 8 Northeastern on the Charles River in a close contest for the Arlett Cup. Northeastern reclaimed the trophy by just over half a second in a photo finish and won three out of four races; Boston University was victorious in the Fourth Varsity Eight.

In recent rankings released on April 8 by the IRC/IRA Division I/II Varsity Eight Poll, Boston University climbed two spots from its preseason position to rank twelfth nationally. The Terriers are set to face several other ranked opponents later this year—including Dartmouth (sixth), Syracuse (ninth), Wisconsin (fourteenth), Columbia (nineteenth), and Georgetown (twenty-third). They have already competed against Northeastern and Navy this season.

Cornell has faced strong competition this spring as well. Its Varsity Eight crew defeated No. 16 Drexel by nearly five seconds but was swept by No. 3 Harvard across all four races in their subsequent outing.

Looking ahead, Boston University will be idle until competing at the Lake Morey Invite in Vermont from April 25-26 where they will meet Dartmouth, Syracuse, Wisconsin, Columbia and Georgetown.
