The Boston University men’s rowing program will participate in the 123rd IRA National Championship Regatta, with racing scheduled to begin on Friday, May 29, on Lake Natoma in Gold River, California.

Boston University is set to field four crews: Varsity 8, Second Varsity 8, Third Varsity 8, and Varsity 4. The three eights will compete in heats on Friday for placement into Saturday’s semifinals. The Varsity 4 will take part in time trials prior to the finals later that afternoon. Tickets for fans are available through the IRA’s official website. All sessions will be streamed live via Overnght.com with a paid subscription, and live results can be accessed through Regatta Timing.

Friday’s race schedule begins with the Varsity 8 at 8:32 a.m. Pacific Time against Harvard, Northeastern, Wisconsin, Holy Cross, and MIT; the top three advance to AB Semifinals, while others go to CD Semifinals. The Second Varsity 8 races at 9:28 a.m., facing Cal, Syracuse, Yale, La Salle, and Georgetown under similar advancement rules. At 9:52 a.m., the Third Varsity 8 competes against Princeton, Syracuse, Cornell, and Wisconsin. The Varsity 4 has time trials at 11:30 a.m., followed by semifinals from late afternoon; advancement depends on semifinal placement.

Lineups for each boat have been announced. For example: Jan Koska (Bow), Daniel Malecki (2), Finn Berkhout (3), Nicolo Bizzozero (4), Giacomo Cappelletto (5), Caleb Schwartz (6), Grant Gwadz (7), Alessandro Gardino (Stroke), and Emily Slawin (Cox) comprise the Varsity 8 crew.

In their previous outing at Eastern Sprints on May 17—all four BU crews posted top-10 finishes including a Grand Final appearance for Fourth Varsity Eight; other boats improved over last year’s results as well.

In recent polls released May 22 by IRCA/IRA—the first varsity and third varsity were ranked eleventh nationally while second varsity placed thirteenth; overall Boston University was twelfth among Ten Eyck Team Points standings, trailing Syracuse but ahead of Cornell and Columbia.
