The Boston University men’s lacrosse team lost to Harvard by a score of 14-11 on Mar. 24 at Nickerson Field. The Terriers, ranked No. 20, overcame a four-goal deficit in the second half to tie the game early in the fourth quarter, but No. 3 Harvard scored four of the final five goals to secure the win.

The result marked BU’s first home loss of the season and continued what was described as another hard-fought edition of the Charles River Rivalry. Despite leading by one goal at halftime, BU fell behind after Harvard opened the third quarter with a five-goal run.

Sophomore Andrew Pape led Boston University’s offense with two goals and two assists for four points. Senior Jimmy Kohr completed a hat trick and extended his goal scoring streak to 25 straight games, putting him six points away from joining teammate Timothy Shannehan in BU’s 100-point club. Freshman Peyton Forte added two goals while several other Terriers contributed offensively.

BU attempted more shots than Harvard (50 to 35), with most landing on target, but Crimson goalkeeper Graham Stevens made 23 saves. Defensively, junior Logan Styles led BU with three caused turnovers and three ground balls, while sophomore Madden Murphy excelled at faceoffs by winning 17 out of 28 draws and recording a career-high thirteen ground balls.

The Terriers’ ride forced Harvard into five failed clears and their man-up unit converted three out of four opportunities. However, late turnovers proved costly as Harvard capitalized twice within twenty-five seconds midway through the fourth quarter.

Looking ahead, Boston University will have its bye week before returning to action on April 4 for a Patriot League game against Loyola Maryland.
