Boston University men’s tennis falls to Bryant in Providence matchup

The Boston University men’s tennis team was defeated by Bryant University, 4-0, in a match held on Friday afternoon in Providence. BU, now holding a 4-6 record for the season, managed to secure a doubles set win and engaged in a close singles match but ultimately could not surpass Bryant, which improved its record to 3-5.

Freshman David Asenov competed in a three-set singles match at the second position but lost with scores of 6-4, 1-6, 6-3. In doubles play, Asenov paired with junior Adrian Quiros to earn BU’s sole victory at third doubles with a score of 6-2.

Bryant took the lead early by winning both first and second doubles matches. In singles action, Miguel Angel Machado of Bryant defeated Jakob Esterowitz (BU) 6-4, 6-2; Will Pellegrini beat Asenov; and Manveer Boparai won against Payton Jim-On (BU) 6-4, 6-0. Several other matches were left unfinished as Bryant clinched the overall victory before their completion.

Boston University is scheduled to face Brown University next on Sunday, March 1 at 4 p.m.
