Boston University men’s tennis earns road win over Merrimack

The Boston University men’s tennis team secured a 5-2 win against Merrimack on Friday evening at the Willows Racquet Club in North Andover, Massachusetts. The victory brings BU’s season record to 3-5.

In doubles play, Payton Jim-On and David Asenov earned a 6-3 win at the top position for BU. However, Merrimack won the remaining two doubles matches to claim the opening point.

BU responded strongly in singles competition. Adrian Quiros was first to finish with a 6-3, 6-2 win at No. 3 singles. Jim-On followed with a straight sets victory at No. 2 singles, defeating his opponent 6-2, 6-2. Andrew Andea extended BU’s lead by overcoming his opponent 7-5, 6-3 at No. 4 singles.

David Asenov clinched the match for BU by winning at No.1 singles with scores of 6-2, 4-6, 6-2. Ege Topkoc also added to BU’s tally after his opponent retired while trailing in the third set.

Merrimack collected its second point of the night by winning at line six singles.

Boston University will next host SNHU on Sunday for senior day at the Track & Tennis Center, with play scheduled to begin at 9 a.m.
