Three Boston University men’s basketball players have been named to the All-Patriot League Team following a strong regular season performance that saw the Terriers finish with a 7-1 record. The conference office announced on Monday that junior Michael McNair, sophomore Ben Defty, and freshman Chance Gladden each received All-Conference honors for the first time. This gives Boston University three honorees, the most of any team in the league.
McNair was selected to the First-Team All-Patriot League after leading his team in scoring with an average of 17 points per game. He became the first Terrier since 2022 to score over 500 points in a single season. McNair also ranks sixth nationally in three-point shooting percentage at 45.1% and eighth overall with 102 made three-pointers. He is only the fourth player in Patriot League history to surpass 100 made threes in a season and the first since 2015-16. McNair has scored at least 20 points eleven times this year and is second on his team with an average of 5.2 rebounds per game.
Defty earned Second-Team All-Patriot League honors as well as a spot on the All-Defensive Team. He currently holds the nation’s second-best field goal percentage at 68.4%. Defty averages nearly fifteen points per game and leads his team with almost seven rebounds per contest, along with recording fifty-two blocks this season—ranking him forty-fourth nationally.
Gladden was named to both the Third-Team All-Patriot League and All-Rookie Team, making him the first Terrier since 2012-13 to achieve both distinctions in one season. He averages fourteen points and nearly five assists per game, ranking sixty-fourth nationally for total assists among all players and seventh among freshmen.
The Terriers are set to open their Patriot League tournament campaign at home against American on Thursday, March 5 at 7 p.m.
The league’s major awards went to Austin Benigni (Player of the Year), Aidan Kehoe (Defensive Player of the Year), Andrew Alekseyenko (Rookie of the Year), and Navy’s coaching staff led by Jon Perry (Coaching Staff of the Year).
