The Boston University softball team achieved a doubleheader shutout sweep against Bucknell on April 3, highlighted by two grand slam home runs and senior Kasey Ricard’s pitching performance.
The games were notable for their historic achievements. Senior Megan Coyle set a program record with nine runs batted in during the first game, which ended in a 15-0 victory after five innings. Ricard matched a school record by throwing her fifth career no-hitter in the second game, leading to a 9-0 win that also concluded after five innings.
Sophomore Camryn Lyons contributed with five hits and three RBIs across both games, while junior Kyomi Apalit hit two home runs—including a grand slam—finishing with seven RBIs. The Terriers collected 19 hits overall and drew 12 walks throughout the doubleheader.
Ricard earned five strikeouts in the opener before sophomore Danika Nell closed out the win with two more strikeouts. In game two, Ricard recorded seven strikeouts to secure her first no-hitter since 2024. “Ricard tied Terrier alum Cassidi Hardy (’10) for the program record at five career no-hitters,” according to the release. She also matched Lehigh’s Lisa Sweeney (’09) for most career victories in Patriot League history at 94 wins.
Coyle’s nine RBIs surpassed previous program highs and tied records within both the Patriot League and NCAA Division I for single-game RBIs this season. Boston University now holds a dominant position in its all-time series against Bucknell, having won 32 of their last 40 matchups.
Looking ahead, Boston University will complete its series against Bucknell on Saturday, April 4.
