The Boston University softball team secured a doubleheader split against Lehigh on March 29, winning the overall Patriot League series. The Terriers claimed a 4-0 shutout victory in the first game, followed by a 3-0 loss in the second matchup.

This result is significant as it extends Boston University’s win streak to 19 games and their home win streak to 17 games. The Terriers now hold a record of 26-11 overall and are 5-1 in conference play, while Lehigh stands at 17-16 overall and 1-5 in league competition.

In the opening game, senior Kasey Ricard delivered six strikeouts and allowed only five hits for BU’s shutout win. Offensively, Camryn Lyons and Kylie Doherty each tallied three hits for BU. Doherty, Livia Christopher, Brooke Deppiesse, and Irys Kline all contributed runs batted in during this contest. The Mountain Hawks responded in game two with pitcher Addison Moorman limiting BU to just three hits for a shutout victory.

Game one saw early threats from Lehigh but Ricard kept them scoreless through key outs. BU capitalized on loaded bases in the second inning with RBI plays from Deppiesse and Doherty. Additional runs came later from Christopher’s bunt single and Kline’s grounder.

In game two, Danika Nell recorded three strikeouts for BU but Lehigh managed to break through offensively in the fifth inning with Helen Woloshyn scoring after stealing second base. The Mountain Hawks added insurance runs late while Moorman held off any comeback attempts by BU hitters.

Looking ahead, Boston University will host Bucknell next weekend after taking a break from midweek action. Last season against Bucknell included dramatic extra-inning wins both at home and on the road.
