The Boston University softball team defeated Colgate, 13-3, on April 12 to complete a Patriot League series sweep. The Terriers matched a program record with four home runs and secured the victory in run-rule fashion.

This win is significant as it highlights both individual and team achievements. Every starter for Boston University scored at least once, helping the team improve its overall record to 33-11 and maintain an 11-1 standing in Patriot League play.

Junior Kylie Doherty led the offense by going 3-for-4 at the plate, hitting two home runs and driving in four runs. With her performance, Doherty now holds sole possession of the Patriot League single-season home run record with 18. Sophomore Kieren McHugh also went 3-for-4 and hit a solo homer, while classmate Kyomi Apalit added another solo shot. Junior Sophie Naivar finished perfect at the plate with three hits and two runs scored.

Senior pitcher Kasey Ricard earned her twenty-fourth win of the season by pitching a complete game. Ricard struck out four batters without allowing any walks during three scoreless innings before Colgate managed to score their only runs via two late homers.

With this result, Boston University improved its all-time record against Colgate to 38 wins and one loss. The Terriers also achieved two run-rule victories over Colgate in a single weekend series for the first time ever.

Looking ahead, Boston University will travel to Harvard for their next game on Tuesday, April 14. The Terriers have won their last six meetings against Harvard.
