The Boston University softball team is set to continue its Patriot League schedule by hosting Bucknell for a three-game series at BU Softball Field, with a doubleheader beginning at noon on Friday, April 3, and a single game scheduled for noon on Saturday.

This matchup holds significance as the Terriers are currently tied with Colgate atop the Patriot League standings with a conference record of 5-1. The team’s strong start includes a sweep against Lafayette and two home wins over Lehigh.

Boston University has performed well at home this season, holding an 11-1 record and achieving run-rule victories over several teams. Senior Brooke Deppiesse leads the Terriers offensively with a .387 batting average, six home runs, and 33 runs batted in. Freshman Irys Kline has reached base consistently with a .504 on-base percentage. Junior Kylie Doherty was ranked as the nation’s No. 23 outfielder by Softball America entering April and is tied for the program’s single-season home run record at 14 homers. In pitching, Kasey Ricard has earned her seventeenth Patriot League Pitcher of the Week honor and holds a program-record 92 career victories.

Bucknell enters the series with an overall record of 5-23-1 and stands at 1-5 in league play. The Bison recently recorded high-scoring games against Saint Francis and began their league campaign by winning two out of three games against Holy Cross. Key players include Barbara Jo Coppola and Sarah Zimmerman, both batting .355 this season.

In their all-time meetings, Boston University leads Bucknell by thirty wins to seven and has won their last eighteen matchups. Last season’s series saw BU sweeping Bucknell in three games played away from home.

Looking ahead, Boston University will conclude its current homestand by hosting Providence for a doubleheader next Wednesday.
