The Boston University softball team, currently holding a 17-game win streak, will face Lehigh in a Patriot League weekend series at BU Softball Field, according to a March 27 announcement. Due to weather-related schedule changes, the teams will play one game on Saturday at 2 p.m., followed by a doubleheader on Sunday starting at noon.

This matchup is significant as both programs have dominated the conference since BU joined in 2013. The Terriers have claimed eight tournament titles, including the last three, while Lehigh has won three during that span. Last spring, Army ended BU’s six-year regular season title run before the Terriers captured the tournament trophy at West Point.

BU enters the series with an undefeated home record this year and several standout individual performances. Nine players are batting over .300; senior Brooke Deppiesse and freshman Irys Kline have combined for 51 RBIs and 61 runs scored. Junior Kylie Doherty has tied a program single-season record with 14 home runs and ranks near national leaders in RBIs. Pitcher Kasey Ricard leads all-time wins for BU and is four victories away from tying the Patriot League record.

Lehigh comes into conference play after close losses to Colgate but recently defeated Drexel. The Mountain Hawks’ offense is led by Kelly Fricker, who bats .458 with multiple extra-base hits and strong run production. In pitching, Madison Finnerty has made a team-high eleven starts.

Historically, BU leads the all-time series against Lehigh 30-19 after last year’s PL tournament opening victory. Recent matchups between these teams have been closely contested with several games decided in extra innings.

Looking ahead, Boston University will next host Bucknell for another weekend series following their break from midweek action.
