The Boston University swimming and diving teams achieved significant point improvements during the 2025-26 season, with both men’s and women’s squads posting the largest gains among all schools at the 2026 Patriot League Championships, according to an April 1 announcement.

This development is notable as it highlights a period of growth for both programs. The women’s team secured its first win over Boston College since the 2018-19 season, while both teams finished their dual seasons with a record of six wins and three losses.

A key event was the Terrier Invitational, where the men’s team narrowed last year’s points gap with Boston College by 300 points to finish second by only 140 points. The women’s team won the meet title for the first time since 2018. Among individual achievements, Alayna Kennedy was named Patriot League Diver of the Year after becoming “the first freshman to sweep the diving boards at the Patriot League Championships, and the first Terrier to do it at a conference meet since 2010.” The men’s team earned its first relay podium finish since 2019 with a bronze medal in the 800 freestyle relay, setting a new school record. Junior Zein Mahana became “the first men’s diver to reach the PL podium in ten years,” earning bronze in the three-meter event. The women’s four-member freshman squad set a program best by finishing second in the medley relay.

In total, there were twelve podium finishes resulting in eight All-Patriot League honors—the most for BU since 2017. The women’s side scored an additional 187 points compared to last year, while men improved by over three hundred points. Both coaching staffs received recognition as Coaching Staffs of the Year on the women’s side.

The season saw ten new school records and three new pool records set across various events. A combined fifty new program top-ten times were recorded—many achieved by underclassmen—with two women’s relay records composed entirely of freshmen athletes. Eleven of these top-ten times ranked as second fastest in program history; all swimmers responsible are expected to return next year.

Eighteen weekly Patriot League awards were collected throughout this period across several categories including swimmer, diver, rookie honors for both men and women—with only one going to a senior athlete. Five divers qualified for NCAA Zones: Alayna Kennedy, Ethan Wong, Kaelyn Katchuk, MollyEllen Crowley, and Zein Mahana.

These results reflect strong performances from emerging talent within Boston University’s swimming and diving programs.
