Boston University men’s basketball team will play against Lehigh in the Patriot League championship final, with the game scheduled for March 11 at Stabler Arena in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania. The matchup will be broadcast at 7 p.m. on CBS Sports Network.
The Terriers are aiming for their first Patriot League title since 2020. They reached their 18th conference final by defeating No. 5 American and top-seeded Navy, while Lehigh advanced after wins over Holy Cross and Colgate. This marks the fifth time Boston University and Lehigh have met in the league tournament, but it is their first meeting with an automatic NCAA tournament bid at stake.
Boston University’s recent victory over Navy was its first one-point win in a conference tournament since 1986. Michael McNair leads the Terriers with an average of 17 points per game and ranks fourth nationally in three-point shooting percentage. Ben Defty averages a team-high 6.7 rebounds per game and is second nationally in field goal percentage, while freshman Chance Gladden has contributed key game-winning shots during the tournament run.
Lehigh holds a strong home record this season and features four players averaging double figures, led by Nasir Whitlock’s 21.1 points per game, which ranks him seventeenth nationally. The Mountain Hawks swept Boston University during the regular season by narrow margins, including an overtime win.
Historically, Boston University leads the all-time series against Lehigh but lost both regular season games this year by a combined five points. In previous Patriot League tournament meetings at Lehigh’s venue, Boston University won once while Lehigh has two overtime victories at Boston’s Case Gym.
The winner of Wednesday’s final will secure a spot in the NCAA tournament bracket, which will be revealed during Sunday’s selection show on CBS.
