The Boston University track and field teams concluded their participation at the ECAC/IC4A Championships this weekend at the Track & Tennis Center in Boston. The event was marked by several record-breaking performances, particularly from the women’s 4×800 meter relay team.

The women’s 4x800m relay squad, made up of sophomore Leonni Griffin, sophomore Caroline Collins, freshman Samantha Lascelles, and senior Olivia Dodds, set new school and facility records with a time of 8:38.32. This performance is currently the fastest in the NCAA for the season and ranks as the 22nd best all-time indoors in NCAA Division I history. The group was recognized as performers of the meet, becoming the first relay team to receive this honor in meet history.

Senior Peace Omonzane achieved a personal best in the triple jump with a distance of 13.24 meters, securing her position as second all-time at BU and tying for 13th place nationally this season. In addition to anchoring the record-setting relay team, Olivia Dodds finished second in the individual 800m event with a time of 2:08.28, moving into third place on BU’s all-time list. Samantha Lascelles also entered BU’s top ten for her performance in that race.

Other notable results included three additional relay groups entering BU’s top ten lists alongside their female counterparts’ record run. Senior Olivia Duca, senior Lily Borin, junior Adrienne Buettner-Cable, and senior Samantha Seabury posted an 11:33.33 mark in the distance medley relay to move into fourth all-time at BU. On the men’s side, freshmen Ryan Boldi joined juniors Daniel De Monte and Shamiso Sikaneta along with sophomore Thomas Cowan to post a seventh-best program time of 7:35.18 in their own 4x800m relay.

In individual events, senior Tucker Bowerfind won the men’s 5000m race with a time of 14:24.24 while junior Karsen Vesty placed second in the men’s 800m (1:51.62). Sophomore Dan Hruska finished runner-up in the mile (4:07.44), while Luke Riordan took third place finishes both in shot put (16.10m) and weight throw (18.85m).

On the women’s side beyond relays and jumps already mentioned, Adrienne Buettner-Cable ran a mile time of 4:46.62 for second place; Omonzane also won gold in long jump (5.99m). Senior Ellie Roan secured victories both in weight throw (20.42m) and shot put (14.32m), followed by seniors Kiana Lino (13.64m) and Uchenna Uba (13.28m) who completed podium sweeps for BU athletes.
