Boston University’s women’s lacrosse team is set to face Fairfield University on Saturday, February 14 at Rafferty Stadium in Connecticut. The game will begin at 4 p.m. and will be available for streaming on ESPN+.

The Terriers enter the match with a 2-0 record after defeating Stonehill 21-14 earlier in the week. In that game, Boston University led by three goals at halftime, saw Stonehill tie the score in the third quarter, but then responded with eight goals in the fourth quarter to secure the win.

Four players from Boston University scored three or more goals in the victory: Jayne Feeney had four goals, while Izzy Amonte, Tessa Geddes, and Makenzie McDevitt each scored three. Freshmen Avery Cutair and Makenzie McDevitt both recorded five points; Cutair contributed one goal and four assists, while McDevitt had three goals and two assists. This marks the first time a freshman has achieved five points in a single game since Hannah Kenneally did so against Colgate on April 28, 2019. Cutair’s four assists are also notable as no Terrier had reached that mark since April 27, 2023.

Tessa Geddes was previously the last Boston University freshman to score a hat trick before McDevitt’s performance, accomplishing this feat on April 17, 2024.

Fairfield enters Saturday’s contest with a 1-1 record. The Stags lost their most recent game to UConn by a score of 10-6 after opening their season with a win over Rhode Island. Sophomore Tessa Caputo leads Fairfield with nine points—three goals and six assists—having recorded three assists in each of her team’s first two games. Junior Kelly Haggerty and senior Mary Henry have both scored four goals this season. Graduate student Whitney Robinson has played most of the minutes in goal for Fairfield and currently holds an average of 8.67 goals allowed per game with a .500 save percentage.

In their all-time series history, Boston University holds five wins to Fairfield’s two. However, Fairfield has won the last two meetings between these teams—including a comeback victory last year when they defeated BU 13-9 at Nickerson Field after trailing by three goals in the third quarter. In that matchup, Tessa Geddes scored twice for BU and Natalie Aiosa made eleven saves.
