The Boston University women’s lacrosse team will finish its regular season against Holy Cross in Worcester on Thursday, April 23. The game is scheduled for a 5 p.m. start at Kuzniewski Field and will be streamed live on ESPN+.
This matchup marks the final regular-season contest for both teams and holds playoff implications. Boston University has secured a spot in the Patriot League tournament for the first time since 2023 and could move up to fourth place in the standings with a win combined with a Bucknell loss.
In their previous game, Boston University defeated Bucknell 13-4 after outscoring them 8-1 in the second half. Senior Elle Stevenson led with four goals and an assist, while juniors Tessa Geddes and Reilly Walsh each contributed three goals and an assist. Other key performances included senior Alyssa Mozi’s goal and three assists, senior Jayne Feeney’s goal and assist, junior Izabella Amonte’s goal, sophomore Kaitlyn Barton’s career-high four caused turnovers, senior Siri Hodgins’ three caused turnovers (bringing her season total to 36), and junior goalkeeper Natalie Aiosa’s nine saves.
Geddes was named Patriot League Midfielder of the Week after scoring seven goals over two games against Bucknell and Colgate. She now has 182 career draw controls, tying her for fifth all-time at BU alongside current head coach Lauren Morton. With her recent performance, Geddes became the first Terrier since Mackenzie Larivee in 2017 to score at least 40 goals in a single season.
Holy Cross enters the game tied for fifth place in league standings as it seeks a playoff berth. The Crusaders recently recorded their first-ever win over a ranked opponent by defeating No.17 Loyola Maryland. Sophomore Hadley Cepiel leads Holy Cross with 37 goals this season; junior Kate Avitabile leads with assists (46) and points (55). Racheli Levy-Smith stands out defensively with top-five league rankings in draw controls (158), caused turnovers (37), and ground balls (36).
The Terriers hold a historical advantage over Holy Cross, winning thirteen of eighteen meetings since their series began in 1984; however, Holy Cross has won each of the last four matchups.
