The Boston University track and field teams concluded their participation at the ECAC/IC4A Championships this weekend at the Track & Tennis Center in Boston. The standout performance came from the women’s 4×800 meter relay team, which set new school and facility records with a time of 8:38.32.

The relay squad included sophomore Leonni Griffin, sophomore Caroline Collins, freshman Samantha Lascelles, and senior Olivia Dodds. Their time was not only the fastest in the NCAA for the current season but also ranks as the 22nd fastest ever recorded indoors in NCAA Division I history. The group received recognition as performers of the meet, marking “the first time in meet history that a relay team has won performer of the meet,” according to event organizers.

Other notable performances included senior Peace Omonzane’s triple jump of 13.24 meters, which improved her indoor personal best and secured her place as second all-time at BU. This result is tied for 13th nationally this season. Omonzane also won the long jump with a distance of 5.99 meters.

Senior Olivia Dodds anchored the record-setting relay and finished second in the individual 800 meters with a time of 2:08.28, moving into third on BU’s all-time list for that event. Freshman Samantha Lascelles joined Dodds among BU’s top ten all-time performers in the 800 meters by running a personal best of 2:09.47.

Additional top-ten historical marks were achieved by several other Terriers’ relay squads:
– Seniors Olivia Duca, Lily Borin, junior Adrienne Buettner-Cable, and senior Samantha Seabury placed fourth all-time at BU in the distance medley relay (DMR) with an 11:33.33 finish.
– On the men’s side, freshman Ryan Boldi, juniors Daniel De Monte and Shamiso Sikaneta, along with sophomore Thomas Cowan ran a 7:35.18 in their own 4×800 meter race—seventh fastest ever at BU.
– Freshmen Jack Ouellette, Brandon Piedade and Michael Repper-Molina teamed up with sophomore Dan Hruska for a ninth-best-in-school-history DMR mark of 10:06.76.

Among individual achievements:
– Senior Tucker Bowerfind won the men’s 5000 meters (14:24.24).
– Junior Karsen Vesty took second place in the men’s 800 meters (1:51.62).
– Sophomore Dan Hruska finished runner-up in the mile (4:07.44).
– Sophomore Luke Riordan earned third place finishes both in shot put (16.10m) and weight throw (18.85m).
– Senior Ellie Roan swept victories in both women’s shot put (14.32m) and weight throw (20.42m). Seniors Kiana Lino and Uchenna Uba followed Roan on podium positions for shot put; Uba also placed second in weight throw.

The championship featured numerous athletes setting or approaching personal bests while climbing Boston University’s historical rankings across various events.
