The Boston University women’s rowing team competed twice on May 29 at the 2026 NCAA Championships in Gainesville, Georgia, participating in both heats and semifinals. The Varsity 4+ advanced to the C Final, while the Varsity 8+ and Second Varsity 8+ moved on to the D Final after their performances.

Event organizers moved up the semifinals by a day due to an inclement weather forecast for Saturday. In morning heats, Boston University faced crews from ten schools, nine of which were ranked among the top twenty nationally. The Varsity 8+, coxed by sophomore Laura Leong and stroked by freshman Marta Carfagni, finished fifth in its heat with a time of 6:26.816 and later placed fourth in its semifinal with a time of 6:25.230. This result secured them a spot in Sunday’s D Final at 9 a.m.

The Second Varsity 8+, led by coxswain Sydney Caragher and stroke Gigi Williams—both sophomores—finished fifth in its heat with a time of 6:24.944, narrowly behind No. 20 Oregon State. In their semifinal later that day, they again finished fourth with a time of 6:34.933 and will compete next in Sunday’s D Final at 8:36 a.m.

For the Varsity 4+, senior coxswain Maya Wiisanen and freshman stroke Louise Forrester guided their crew to fifth place (7:21.300) during morning heats before achieving third place (7:20.507) in their semifinal race—a result that puts them into the C Final for the second consecutive year.

Full lineups for each boat were also announced following competition results.
