The Boston University women’s lacrosse team will host the American Eagles at Nickerson Field on Saturday, March 28, with the opening draw scheduled for noon. The game will be streamed live on ESPN+. An hour before the match, BU will honor its senior class with an on-field ceremony recognizing Abby Cotraro, Eva Chouinard, Jayne Feeney, Samantha Simpson, Alyssa Mozi, Haley Matusz, Siri Hodgins, Leah Hodgins and Elle Stevenson.
This event highlights the contributions of graduating players to the program and gives fans a chance to acknowledge their commitment. Both teams are looking to improve their records in Patriot League play.
Boston University enters the contest with a record of 5-6 overall and 1-2 in conference games. In their last outing against Loyola Maryland on March 21, BU fell short by a score of 13-8. Despite narrowing a six-goal deficit late in the game and scoring what would have made it an 11-9 contest with just over four minutes left, officials overturned the goal after review. Junior Tessa Geddes scored three goals in that match while freshman Karina Harrison recorded her first career two-goal game. Sophomore Kaitlyn Barton set a personal best with three caused turnovers and junior goalkeeper Natalie Aiosa made nine saves.
Senior Elle Stevenson is currently tied for most goals on the team at 25 and has registered points in ten consecutive games. Defender Siri Hodgins ranks third in the Patriot League—and seventeenth nationally—in caused turnovers per game (2.36), tallying a season total of twenty-six so far.
American comes into Saturday’s matchup holding a record of two wins and eight losses overall (1-2 Patriot League). The Eagles recently defeated Lehigh but lost an overtime contest to Colgate earlier this month before falling to Loyola Maryland by double digits this week. Offensively they are led by seniors Kellie Linehan (25 goals) and Reagan Murdoch (26 goals). Defensively they lead their league peers in caused turnovers per game (11.40), while goalkeeper Brooke Hill has posted a goals-against average of 14.55 alongside a .392 save percentage.
This meeting marks the eleventh between BU and American; each team has won twice over their last four encounters but BU claimed victory last year by seven goals.
