The Boston University women’s lacrosse team will face the Lafayette Leopards at Nickerson Field in Boston on Saturday, March 14, with the game scheduled to begin at 3:30 p.m. The matchup is part of a four-game home stand for the Terriers and will be streamed live on ESPN+.

This game follows a recent home loss for Boston University against Brown, where the Terriers were defeated 10-8. Despite taking an early lead of 3-1 after the first quarter, BU was unable to hold off Brown’s eight-goal run. Senior Elle Stevenson led BU with three goals in that contest, while junior Izabella Amonte and junior Reilly Walsh contributed two goals each. Freshman Avery Cutair added one goal and one assist. Junior goalkeeper Natalie Aiosa made six saves, and senior defender Siri Hodgins caused three turnovers.

Stevenson currently leads the Terriers in goals with 21 and ranks fifth in the Patriot League. She achieved her second season scoring at least 20 goals within her first eight games following her hat-trick performance against Brown. Hodgins is ranked fifth in the league for caused turnovers per game with an average of 1.75. Entering Saturday’s match, BU holds the second-best clearing percentage in the Patriot League at .925 and is ranked 22nd nationally.

Lafayette enters the game with a record of four wins and three losses this season but has recently lost to George Washington (15-13) and Holy Cross (18-7). The Leopards are fifth in their league for goals per game at an average of 12.86 and have maintained careful ball control with only 12.14 turnovers per game, which is second-lowest in the league. Isabelle Pohmer leads Lafayette with 14 goals, while Georgia Swarr has accumulated a team-high of 17 points from twelve goals and five assists. Goalkeeper Kennedy Carr has recorded a goals-against average of 13.08 and a save percentage of .406.

Historically, Boston University holds a favorable record against Lafayette, leading their all-time series nine wins to three, including last year’s victory by a score of 17-8 in Easton. In that previous meeting, both Amonte and Stevenson scored four goals each for BU, while Jayne Feeney and Leah Hodgins also contributed to the scoreboard; Aiosa made nine saves during that match-up. However, BU has not secured a home win over Lafayette since an 18-7 result in 2021.

The upcoming contest provides both teams an opportunity to improve their conference records as they continue through their respective seasons.
