Boston University women’s tennis falls to Boston College in close contest

The Boston University women’s tennis team lost to Boston College in a 4-2 match held in Weymouth, Massachusetts. Boston College secured the doubles point, though Boston University put up resistance, particularly with seniors Emily Zhao and Rhea Rai winning five games at line three before their match was left unfinished.

In singles play, Boston College extended its lead with a win at the top of the lineup. Junior Ellie Gyuro provided BU’s first point by defeating Natalie Eordekian 6-1, 6-4 at line three. Sophomore Gabriella Mikaul followed with another win for BU at the No. 2 spot against Seren Agar, also finishing 6-1, 6-4.

Emily Zhao forced a third set at line six after taking the second set 6-2 but ultimately lost in the final set as BC went ahead 3-2. Freshman Vasilisa Borisova competed closely at line four but dropped her match to Tola Glowacka in three sets (1-6, 6-2, 7-5), allowing BC to clinch the victory.

Sophomore Madison Liu’s match at line five remained unfinished; she trailed Leyden Games of BC with scores of 0-6, 7-6, and 1-4 when play stopped.

Boston University will continue its weekend schedule with a match against UMass at Winchester Tennis Club. The contest is scheduled for a 3 p.m. start.

Singles results included Olivia Benton (BC) defeating Nancy Liu (BU) and Nadia Barteck (BC) beating Emily Zhao (BU). In doubles play, Agar/Eordekian (BC) defeated Borisova/Nancy Liu (BU), while Benton/Leyden Games (BC) won over DeMicheli/Mikaul (BU). The third doubles match featuring Zhao/Rhea Rai for BU ended unfinished.
