The Boston University women’s tennis team defeated Holy Cross 4-0 on Mar. 29 at the Harvard Murr Center in North Allston, Massachusetts. The Terriers improved their record to 6-9 overall and remained undefeated in Patriot League play at 4-0.

The match was notable as it took place on Senior Day, marking an important occasion for the team’s graduating players. Boston University quickly secured the doubles point with wins from seniors Rhea Rai and Madison Liu at No. 3 doubles (6-0), and a victory by junior Blanka DeMicheli and sophomore Madison Liu at line two (6-1).

In singles play, Rai delivered BU’s first singles point with a decisive 6-0, 6-0 win on Court 5. Emily Zhao followed with another straight-set shutout (6-0, 6-0), increasing BU’s lead to three points. Freshman Lauren Kettlewell clinched the match for BU by defeating her opponent at No. 4 singles with a score of 6-1, 6-0.

Other matches were unfinished when the team victory was secured: Ellie Gyuro led Phoebe Devine (BU) in a close contest before it was stopped; Madison Liu and Blanka DeMicheli also had leads in their respective matches before play concluded.

Boston University will conclude its regular season with two away matches beginning against Lehigh on Saturday, April 11, where first serve is scheduled for 11 a.m.

The Terriers’ performance reflects their strong form within conference play as they look ahead to postseason competition.
