Congresswoman Ayanna Pressley has been vocal on social media about her legislative priorities and the actions of the previous administration. Representing Massachusetts’ 7th district since 2019, Pressley continues to advocate for public health and civil rights protections.

On April 11, 2025, Representative Pressley criticized the Trump administration and Republicans for targeting communities of color. She emphasized the need for an “affirmative agenda that addresses racism as the public health crisis that it is.” Highlighting her proposed legislation, Pressley noted, “My Anti-Racism in Public Health Act with @SenWarren is the type of responsive legislation this moment demands.”

Later that day, Pressley addressed the issue of formaldehyde in consumer products. She mentioned a proposed ban by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration that was stalled by the Trump administration. Pressley stated, “.@US_FDA proposed a ban on formaldehyde that was scheduled for implementation. But Trump froze all new regulations, leaving this rule in limbo. It’s past time we take formaldehyde off the market, ban it in hair straighteners, & protect Black women & girls from this chemical.”

On April 12, 2025, Pressley raised concerns regarding the alleged kidnapping and violation of rights of her constituent Rümeysa Öztürk by Department of Homeland Security officials. She expressed her determination to resist such actions, stating, “My constituent Rümeysa Öztürk was kidnapped by DHS officials, had her constitutional rights violated, & has yet to be charged with a crime. I sat down with @TheIntercept to discuss Trump’s dangerous attacks on our students & immigrants, & how we’re meeting this with resistance.”

Ayanna Pressley, currently residing in Boston, has served in the U.S. Congress since 2019, after succeeding Mike Capuano. Born in Cincinnati, Ohio, in 1974, Pressley has been an active voice on issues concerning public health and immigrant rights.
