Boston Bruins forward David Pastrnak has been recognized as the National Hockey League’s Third Star of the Week for his performance during the week ending January 11.
Pastrnak was tied for first in NHL scoring over the period, tallying two goals and seven assists for a total of nine points in four games. His week began with a two-goal game against Seattle on January 6, which allowed him to tie Cam Neely for second place on Boston’s all-time list of multi-goal games at 76. He also contributed an assist in Boston’s 4-1 victory over Calgary on January 8.
On January 10, Pastrnak recorded six assists in a single game—a personal best—during the Bruins’ 10-2 win over the New York Rangers. This achievement made him only the third player in franchise history to reach six assists in one game and just the fourth NHL player to do so in the last quarter-century. Following these performances, he is now tied for seventh on Boston’s all-time scoring list with 888 points.
Pastrnak currently ranks second among NHL players in points this month with eleven and has played a role in Boston’s strong start to January, where they hold a record of four wins and one loss. He has earned points in four out of five games so far this month. Over 41 games this season, Pastrnak has accumulated nineteen goals and thirty-six assists for fifty-five points, averaging just over twenty minutes per game—the highest average among Bruins forwards. He leads his team not only in assists and overall points but also in points per game (1.34), even strength points (35), power play goals (8), and power play points (20).
