Boston Bruins forward David Pastrnak has been named the NHL Second Star of the Month for January, according to an announcement from the National Hockey League on February 1.

Pastrnak ranked second in the league for assists with 20, even strength points with 18, and points per game at 1.79. He also tied for second in total points during January with 25.

Throughout January, Pastrnak recorded points in 12 out of Boston’s 14 games. His month included seven multi-point games and a career-best six-point effort during the Bruins’ 10-2 victory over the New York Rangers on January 10. On January 17 in Chicago, he played his 800th career game, and on January 26 against the Rangers, he reached his 900th career point—making him the second-fastest player in franchise history to reach that milestone.

He achieved a season-high eight-game point streak between January 13 and January 27, accumulating three goals and eleven assists for fourteen points. With these achievements, Pastrnak now stands sixth on Boston’s all-time points list with 902 and fourth in franchise history for multi-point games at 257.

This season, Pastrnak has played in fifty games for Boston, registering twenty-two goals and forty-seven assists for sixty-nine points. He currently leads all Bruins skaters this season in assists, total points, points per game average, even strength points (44), and power play points (25).
