After leading the Boston University softball team to three victories, junior Kylie Doherty and senior Kasey Ricard have received Patriot League weekly awards, according to an announcement from the conference office on Monday.

Doherty earned her second career Player of the Week award. She played a key role in a win over No. 16 Duke by hitting a go-ahead home run in the sixth inning. Ricard was named Pitcher of the Week for the 14th time after allowing only one unearned run across games against Duke, Maryland, and CSU Bakersfield.

Doherty, who is from Bolton, Massachusetts, led her team with a .375 batting average and five RBIs during the stretch. She began the season with a two-RBI single that secured a 3-0 win over CSU Bakersfield. Against Duke, she went 2-for-3 and hit a solo home run in the sixth inning to help BU secure a 2-1 victory. She also had three hits, including a double, along with two RBIs and two runs scored in a game against Buffalo.

Ricard reached her 700th career strikeout milestone during this period and tied the Patriot League record for all-time shutouts at 31. The Littleton, Massachusetts native struck out 13 batters while allowing just one hit in another 3-0 win at the event. Later that day, she held Duke to three hits and recorded seven strikeouts.

Boston University will compete next at the Carolina Classic hosted by South Carolina from February 13 to February 15.
