Boston College junior defenseman Drew Fortescue has signed a three-year entry-level contract with the National Hockey League’s New York Rangers, the organization announced on Mar. 21.
Fortescue was selected by the Rangers in the third round, 90th overall, during the 2023 NHL Entry Draft. His signing marks a significant step in his hockey career as he transitions from collegiate to professional play.
During the 2025-26 season, Fortescue ranked second among Boston College defensemen in goals with four and was third in both assists (10) and points (14). Over his three seasons at Boston College, he played in 112 games and recorded a total of 33 points, including eight goals and twenty-five assists. In the 2024-25 season, he achieved a career-high eleven assists and posted a plus-28 rating, which tied for seventh among all NCAA skaters and was second on his team.
Fortescue is originally from Pearl River, New York. He also won back-to-back gold medals with Team USA at the IIHF World Junior Championship in both 2024 and 2025.
The move to sign Fortescue comes as he concludes a successful collegiate career and prepares to join the professional ranks.
