Senior Owen Faulha of the Boston University men’s track and field team qualified for the NCAA Outdoor Track & Field Championships in the javelin throw, as reported on May 29. The event took place at the NCAA East First Round in Lexington, Kentucky, where two Terriers competed.

Faulha entered the competition seeded 46th out of 48 throwers and participated in the first of four flights. On his first attempt, he achieved a distance of 67.88 meters, finishing ninth overall and securing a spot at the national championships in Eugene, Oregon. His performance also broke his own school record. Faulha is now recognized as the first Terrier thrower to qualify for the NCAA Outdoor Championships this century.

Senior Freddy Collins also represented Boston University by competing in the 5000-meter race on Friday but withdrew during the event. Collins concludes his outdoor season and collegiate track and field career with several accolades: he is a two-time All-Patriot League honoree, was named Patriot League Indoor Scholar-Athlete of the Year for 2024, and earned distinctions as a two-time USTFCCCA All-Academic Athlete and two-time CSC Academic All-District honoree.

Faulha will compete for a national title on Wednesday, June 10 at Hayward Field in Eugene. The javelin event is scheduled to begin at 6:15 p.m. Pacific Time (9:15 p.m. Eastern Time).
