Harvard University senior infielder and right-handed pitcher Gio Colasante was named Ivy League Player of the Week on Mar. 23 after contributing both at bat and on the mound, according to an announcement from the Ivy League conference office.

Colasante’s performance included a .412 batting average over four games, with seven hits in seventeen at-bats. He scored six runs, drove in four runs batted in (RBIs), and hit two home runs during that stretch. On the pitching side, Colasante started game one against Columbia, throwing six innings while allowing just one run on two hits and two walks, and striking out four batters.

He managed to record at least one hit in each of Harvard’s four games last week. In game four against CBU, he went 2-for-6 with two runs scored; in game one versus Columbia, he was 1-for-4 with an RBI; in game two he finished 2-for-3 with a home run, two runs scored, and two RBIs; and in game three he went 2-for-4 with another home run along with an RBI and two more runs.

Looking ahead, Harvard is scheduled to play Holy Cross on Wednesday, Mar. 25 at a time yet to be determined. The team will then continue its season with an Ivy League road series at Cornell featuring a doubleheader on Saturday, Mar. 28 starting at 11:30 a.m., followed by a single game on Sunday, Mar. 29 at noon.
