Harvard University baseball lost to Columbia University, 8-3, in the final game of a three-game series on March 22 at Robertson Field at Satow Stadium.

The game concluded Harvard’s opening Ivy League series. After tying the score at 2-2 with a two-run home run by senior Jordan Kang in the fourth inning, Columbia scored six consecutive runs to secure the win.

Senior first baseman Gio Colasante went 2-for-4 with a home run, two runs scored, and an RBI. This marked his team-high fourth homer of the season and the fourteenth of his career. Kang contributed with his second home run of both the season and week, bringing his career total to nine. Senior center fielder Max Lane hit a double—his second of the series and third this season—while sophomore right-hander Daniel Sams pitched one inning of scoreless relief with two strikeouts.

Columbia took an early lead in the third inning with two RBI singles. Harvard responded when Kang tied it up with a home run in the top of the fourth. The Lions regained control in their half of that inning with a three-run homer and extended their lead further in the seventh on three more RBI singles. Colasante closed out scoring for Harvard by hitting a solo home run in the eighth.

Looking ahead, Harvard is scheduled to play Holy Cross on Tuesday, March 24 before traveling for another Ivy League road series against Cornell starting Saturday.
