Harvard baseball announced on Apr. 17 that its series opener against Dartmouth will be played at Tufts University’s Sol Gittleman Park due to field conditions. The game is set for this afternoon with a first pitch scheduled at 3:00 p.m.

The relocation comes as the teams prepare for their regular season matchups, with Harvard aiming to maintain its schedule despite the challenges posed by field conditions. The doubleheader originally planned for tomorrow with Dartmouth remains scheduled at O’Donnell Field and will coincide with Cambridge Day celebrations.

According to the announcement, only today’s game has been moved, while efforts are being made to ensure that subsequent games can proceed as planned at Harvard’s home field.

The decision highlights the impact of weather and field maintenance on college athletics scheduling. Relocating games is sometimes necessary to ensure player safety and maintain competitive integrity.

Looking ahead, both teams are expected to return to O’Donnell Field for Saturday’s doubleheader barring further changes in weather or field status.
