Harvard men’s basketball finishes sixth at FISU 3×3 Americas Cup

The Harvard men’s basketball team placed sixth at the FISU 3×3 Americas Cup, according to a May 29 announcement. The tournament took place in Tegucigalpa, Honduras, and featured the Harvard quartet of Ben Eisendrath, Dutch Dowdell, Joseph Quartey, and Ryan Sullivan.

Eisendrath led the Crimson with 39 points over four games, averaging 9.8 points per game during the tournament. Dowdell contributed 14 points (3.5 ppg), while Quartey and Sullivan added seven and six points, respectively.

The team started strong on day one by winning its first two pool games. In their opening match against TEC, Eisendrath and Dowdell combined for 17 points to secure a 21-14 victory. Harvard then faced the University of Chile in a close contest that ended with a narrow 17-16 win for the Crimson. Eisendrath scored in double figures again with 12 points.

Harvard advanced to the quarterfinals but was eliminated after a close loss to Mexico’s UANQ by a score of 21-17. Eisendrath scored a game-high 16 points in that matchup, while Sullivan added one point.

In their final game for fifth place against Bishop’s University of Canada, Harvard fell short with a score of 21-11 and finished sixth overall in the tournament. Dowdell led scoring for Harvard in that match with six points.
