Harvard men’s golf finished in fourth place at the Cutter Creek Intercollegiate, which opened its Spring season on March 30. The tournament took place at the Cutter Creek Golf Club in Snow Hill, North Carolina, and marked Harvard’s third consecutive appearance at this event.
The result is significant as it sets the tone for Harvard’s upcoming competitions and provides a benchmark against other collegiate teams early in the Spring schedule.
On the first day of play, Harvard posted a team score of 286 (two under par), placing them fifth after the opening round. William Ma led with a score of 70 (two under par), followed by Morgan Riley with a round of 71 (one under par). Ieuan Jones shot an even-par round of 72, while Jonathan Hartono scored a 73 (one over par). Barry Zhang and Isaac Ahn both recorded rounds of 74 (two over par) just outside the scoring group. In individual play, newcomer Jacques Roger shot a notable round of 69 (three under par).
In the second round, Isaac Ahn led Harvard with a score of 71 (one under par), while Zhang posted a steady round of 73. The team improved to fourth place after this round. During the final day, Zhang carded six birdies en route to his best tournament score—a two-under-par round of 70—finishing in thirteenth place individually. Ma and Riley each posted rounds of 74, and Ahn rounded out scoring with a final-round score of 75.
Zhang’s thirteenth-place finish was highest among Harvard players; Ma, Ahn, and Riley also placed within the top twenty-five on an individual leaderboard that included several teams from across collegiate golf.
Looking ahead, Harvard will compete next at the Princeton Invitational on April 11-12 as their last event before participating in the Ivy League Golf Championships later in April.
