Harvard men’s lightweight rowing’s varsity four secured a silver medal on May 30 at the IRA National Championship Regatta in Gold River, California. The team was the only Harvard boat to compete on day two of the event, finishing second in the A Final.
The crew, led by coxswain Ericka Lai and stroke Matt Lyons, maintained a close contest with gold medalist Penn, keeping within a second of the lead at the halfway point. Other members contributing to the result were Grant Atkinson, Nathan Pappas, and bow Russell O’Donnell.
Final results for the varsity four plus (V4+) showed Penn finishing first with a time of 6:40.120. Harvard followed with 6:41.560. Mercyhurst placed third at 6:42.410, Princeton fourth at 6:43.360, Cornell fifth at 6:45.970, and Columbia sixth at 6:49.410.

Looking ahead to Sunday finals, Harvard’s junior varsity is scheduled to race at 1:12 p.m., followed by the varsity final at 2:34 p.m., both times listed as Eastern Time and subject to change.
