Harvard men’s golf will open its spring schedule on March 27 at the Cutter Creek Intercollegiate, hosted by East Carolina at Cutter Creek Golf Club in Snow Hill, North Carolina.
The tournament marks the start of Harvard’s spring campaign after a fall season with strong performances from both individual players and the team. The event is significant as it is only the third time Harvard has participated in this tournament, and the team aims to build on its previous results.
The field includes teams such as Gardner-Webb, FDU, Charleston Southern, Francis Marion, Old Dominion, Sandhills Community College, Presbyterian, Radford, Elon, Temple, Campbell and Providence. Harvard’s projected lineup features Ieuan Jones, William Ma, Isaac Ahn, Barry Zhang and Morgan Riley with Jonathan Hartono competing as well. Reese Jensen and Jacques Roger are set to play as individuals.
This appearance marks Harvard’s third consecutive year at the Cutter Creek Intercollegiate. Two years ago they finished sixth; last season they improved to third place. In that outing the team shot three-over-par collectively while William Ma and Barry Zhang tied for seventh individually after finishing one-under-par over three rounds.
Harvard ended its fall schedule with a second-place finish at its first-ever Georgetown Intercollegiate in Westfield. Notable performances included Reese Jensen tying for first place with a score of 143 (+1), leading all players in par-5 scoring average (4.17) and birdies (9). Barry Zhang finished tenth overall while Isaac Ahn secured his first top-25 finish of the year alongside Leuan Jones.
Looking ahead, Harvard will compete next at the Princeton Invitational on April 11-12 before preparing for the Ivy League Championship later in April.
