The Harvard men’s squash team, ranked third nationally, is preparing to compete in the 2026 College Squash Association (CSA) Team National Championships this weekend in Philadelphia. The tournament will be held at the Arlen Specter U.S. Squash Center, where Harvard received a first-round bye and will begin play on Friday, March 6.

Harvard is coached by Mike Way, who holds the Gregory Lee ’87 and Russell Ball ’88 Endowed Coach for Squash position at Harvard University. Under his leadership, the team has achieved a 32-11 record at the CSA Team National Championships and has won five Potter Cup titles and 37 National Championships overall. “The Crimson – who received a first-round bye in the tournament – will begin its hunt for the National Championships at the Arlen Specter U.S. Squash Center this Friday (Mar. 6). The Gregory Lee ’87 and Russell Ball ’88 Endowed Coach for Squash at Harvard University, Mike Way, and the Crimson are seeking its first National Championship since the 2022 season and its 38th title in total,” according to a statement from Harvard Athletics.

As the third seed in this year’s Potter Cup draw, Harvard will face either Columbia or Tufts in their opening match on Friday. If they advance, they will play against either Penn or Drexel/Cornell in Saturday’s semifinal round. The championship match is scheduled for Sunday morning.

Last season, Harvard finished sixth at Nationals. The team has not previously played Tufts at this stage but holds a 5-1 record against Columbia in national tournament play.

Eight current student-athletes have prior experience competing at CSA Nationals. Denis Gilevskiy leads with an 8-1 record over nine matches, followed by co-captain David Costales with a 7-2 mark. Other contributors include Jacob Lin and Segev Rome with three individual victories each; Omar Azzam and Ishant Shah have also participated in multiple matches.

This season, Alexander Broadbridge and Ishant Shah are tied for most wins on the team with ten each; Shah has posted a team-best record of 10-1 from ninth position while Broadbridge is 10-2 primarily playing sixth position matches. Gilevskiy recently moved into first position with a 7-5 overall record there. Costales has three wins while playing top positions this year.

Omar Azzam returned to competition this season with a 9-3 overall mark—seven of those wins coming from third position matches—while Christian Capella, named Ivy League Rookie of the Year, holds a similar record mainly from fourth position play. Maddox Moxham (8-4), Jacob Lin (9-3), and Segev Rome (7-5) have also contributed strong performances across various lineup spots during the season.

The full schedule of matches can be found online ahead of Friday’s opening round.
