Harvard men’s tennis will travel to Tampa, Florida, on March 29 for its last non-conference match of the season. The team is scheduled to play at 11:00 a.m. Eastern Time.
This match marks the end of Harvard’s non-conference schedule before they begin Ivy League play. The Crimson currently holds a 10-8 record and recently returned from a spring break trip in California where they secured one win against San Diego State but lost matches to ranked teams San Diego and UC Santa Barbara.
The team remains inside the top 50 in the latest ITA Division I Men’s Team Rankings. First-year player Nathan Blokhin leads Harvard in singles victories with an overall record of 18-7, mostly playing at the third position. Junior Rohan Murali has moved into the top singles spot this season and has achieved a record of 17-8 overall, including an 11-5 mark during dual matches. In national rankings, Murali is listed at No. 84 while Benjamin Privara holds the No. 112 spot; Privara has competed mainly at the top two singles positions for Harvard.
In doubles competition, Murali and Kolos Kincses have formed a strong partnership with an overall record of 18-4 and are especially successful at the second doubles position with a dual-match record of 13-2. Kincses leads all Harvard players with 21 doubles wins this year, while Murali follows closely behind with a record of 19-5.
The all-time series between Harvard and South Florida stands tied at two wins each. However, Harvard has won their last two meetings against South Florida: by scores of 5-2 in 2007 and most recently by a narrow margin of 4-3 in 2018.
After returning from Florida, Harvard will host Princeton on April 4 as it begins its Ivy League schedule.
