Harvard Men’s Volleyball won against the Sacred Heart Pioneers in four sets (18-25, 25-23, 25-23, 25-15) on March 28. The match took place in Fairfield, Connecticut.
The result gives Harvard a split weekend and improves its record to six wins and thirteen losses overall, with three wins and five losses in Eastern Intercollegiate Volleyball Association play. Sacred Heart now stands at eight wins and ten losses overall.
During the first set, Harvard struggled with service reception but saw Owen Woolbert and Sawyer Nichols each contribute two block assists. Woolbert also recorded three kills early in the match. In the second set, Zach Berty made an impact with three kills and two service aces as Harvard maintained a narrow lead over Sacred Heart.
Momentum continued for Harvard into the third set as they achieved a .385 hitting percentage. Quinn Bishop led this effort with six kills and one block. In the fourth set, Harvard matched its third-set total of fifteen kills to secure victory by maintaining offensive pressure throughout.
Both Berty and Bishop finished with fourteen kills each at the net. Nichols added eleven kills along with eight digs while Thomas Phung reached a season-high ten digs for defense. Woolbert contributed eight kills and four total blocks during the match.
Looking ahead, Harvard will take a bye week before resuming conference play against George Mason University in Fairfax, Virginia on April 3rd at 6:00 PM and April 4th at 2:00 PM. Both matches are scheduled to stream on ESPN+.
