Harvard men’s volleyball falls to Sacred Heart in four-set match

Harvard Men’s Volleyball lost to Sacred Heart in four sets (22-25, 20-25, 25-19, 21-25) on March 27. The match took place in Fairfield and saw Harvard drop to a record of five wins and thirteen losses overall, with two wins and five losses in the Eastern Intercollegiate Volleyball Association.

The close contest highlighted both teams’ efforts as each set was tightly contested. Harvard managed to extend the match by winning the third set but could not hold off Sacred Heart’s push in the fourth.

Sawyer Nichols led Harvard with sixteen kills, eight digs, and one block. Zach Bety recorded a double-double performance with thirteen kills and twelve digs. Owen Woolbert contributed twelve kills on a .625 hitting percentage along with three blocks. Additional support came from Quinn Bishop who had six kills and five digs, Doty who added six kills on a .462 hitting percentage, and Gan who finished with one kill, four digs, three blocks, and a .328 hitting percentage.

Despite consistent efforts from Harvard’s offense throughout the night, Sacred Heart maintained an edge at home. The Crimson struggled at times against Sacred Heart’s blocking but managed to find openings during their third-set win.

Looking ahead, Harvard will continue EIVA play against Sacred Heart again on Saturday at 6:00 p.m., with streaming available on ESPN+.
