Harvard men’s tennis will play two Ivy League matches this weekend, traveling to Brown on April 10 and hosting Yale on April 12.
The upcoming matches are important for Harvard as the team continues its pursuit of an Ivy League title. The Crimson currently hold an overall record of 11-10 and a conference record of 1-1 after splitting their first weekend of league play.
Last weekend, Harvard secured a close win over No. 33 Princeton, overcoming early setbacks in both doubles and singles before ultimately winning the match in four hours. Rohan Murali defeated Princeton’s Paul Inchauspe, handing him his first loss of the dual season. Benjamin Privara clinched the victory with a three-set win that saw all sets go to tiebreakers. Nathan Blokhin also contributed with a singles win against Princeton and nearly added another against Penn.
Murali has moved up to No. 60 nationally in singles rankings and now plays at the top spot for Harvard, holding an overall record of 18-8 this season. Blokhin leads the team with a singles record of 20-7 across fall and spring seasons and reentered national rankings at No. 118 after last weekend’s performance. In doubles, Murali teams with Kolos Kincses for a strong showing at No. 2 doubles; Kincses leads Harvard players with 22 doubles wins this season.
Harvard has historically dominated its upcoming opponents: it holds a commanding lead over Brown (90-7 all-time) and has won their last fifteen meetings; against Yale, Harvard is ahead in their series (78-26) including victories in their last twenty-six encounters.
Following these matches, Harvard will travel again next week for back-to-back contests against Columbia and Cornell.
