The Harvard men’s water polo team announced on May 26 the addition of four incoming first-year student-athletes to its roster for the class of 2030. Head Coach Ted Minnis said the new recruits will bring depth and immediate impact to a returning group that reached the title game of the Northeast Water Polo Conference last season.

“I am very excited for this class, which will bring depth to an already talented returning group,” Minnis said. “We really focused on bringing in players up the middle of the pool and this class will make an immediate impact in the water. They truly are leaders in and out of the pool and make up everything we look for in scholar-athletes.”

The new members include attacker Clay Carrington from Menlo Park, California; goalie Jonas Ransford from Newport Beach, California; center Geoffrey Slutzky from Newport Beach, California; and center Rigby Snapp from Ventura, California. The group features three West Coast prospects and one East Coast recruit, with two centers, one attacker, and one goalie.

Minnis described Carrington as “a long lefty that shoots the ball very well,” adding that he can play multiple positions: “He can post up, defend and is super explosive in transition.” On Ransford’s abilities as a goalkeeper, Minnis said: “Jonas brings a high level of goalkeeping from California… He has been an anchor on the defensive side of the ball.” Regarding Slutzky’s role at center, Minnis stated: “Geoff is a big explosive center… He holds position forcing teams into deep zones.” For Snapp’s addition at center, Minnis said: “Rigby is a big strong center. He is athletic and has the knack to finish the ball in front of the goal. Rigby has a work ethic that is so contagious and is a great addition to our program.”

Last season, Harvard men’s water polo finished with a record of 20-10.
