Harvard Sailing was recognized by the New England Intercollegiate Sailing Association (NEISA) for the second week in a row, according to a March 25 announcement. Seven members of the team—Justin Callahan, Aidan Pesce, Mitchell Callahan, Michelle Chung, Robby Meek, Jacob Posner and Christina Chen—were named NEISA Open Sailors of the Week for their performances through March 22.
The recognition follows Harvard’s win at The Friis Trophy last weekend. The Crimson finished with an overall record of 17-2 at the event on the Charles River, surpassing both Stanford and Roger Williams University teams who each recorded a 14-5 result. Harvard began with a strong showing in round-robin competition and then dominated Round 2 with an undefeated streak before securing its victory in the final stage.
This marks Harvard’s first Friis Trophy win since at least the 2008-09 season. The program has also achieved five victories over its last four weekends of competition. Additionally, this is the first time since at least ’08-09 that Harvard has won a regatta on four consecutive spring weekends.
Looking ahead, Harvard plans to compete in two upcoming events: the MIT-hosted Marchiando Trophy Team Race and Brown University’s Dellenbaugh Trophy Women’s Team Race. Both regattas are scheduled for March 28-29.
The team’s recent performance highlights consistent success throughout this spring season.
