Harvard was awarded the New England Intercollegiate Sailing Association (NEISA) Open Sailor-of-the-Week honors on March 19, recognizing the achievements of Justin Callahan, Mitchell Callahan, Robby Meek, Christina Chen, Jacob Posner, Rosella Irfan, Aidan Pesce and Xavier Ayala-Vermont. The announcement follows their recent success during the weekend of March 14-15.
The group secured first place among a field of 16 teams at the Graham Hall Trophy Team Race in Annapolis, Maryland. Harvard finished with a record of 21 wins and two losses, winning the regatta by three races over Roger Williams University, which posted an 18-5 record.
This recognition marks the second time this spring that Harvard has received NEISA’s weekly honor. Earlier in the season, on March 4, the team was recognized after winning the Liam O’Keefe Trophy Team Race in Rhode Island on February 28. That victory included performances from both Callahans, Meek, Posner, Chen, Irfan and Pesce.
The team’s consistent results highlight its competitive presence within collegiate sailing events this season. The back-to-back honors reflect both individual and collective efforts across multiple regattas.
Looking ahead, Harvard is scheduled to compete again during the weekend of March 21-22 at the Duplin Trophy Women’s Team Race hosted by Tufts and will also host the Friis Trophy Team Race.
