Harvard Sailing is set to participate in the Fowle Trophy for the New England Intercollegiate Sailing Association (NEISA) Open Team Racing Championship and the Yale Women’s Team Race, according to an April 1 announcement. The NEISA event will be held from Saturday, April 4 through Sunday, April 5 in Cranston, Rhode Island, while the Yale regatta will take place on Saturday in New Haven, Connecticut.
These competitions are significant as Harvard aims to secure NEISA’s automatic bid to the Inter-Collegiate Sailing Association (ICSA) Open Team Racing National Championship. The Crimson has demonstrated strong performance this spring with five consecutive weekends producing a regatta win, including their second straight Marchiando Trophy Team Race victory on the Charles River. This streak marks a level of success not seen since at least the 2008-09 season.
Over its current five-week run, Harvard has won six regattas—its most during a regular-season spring campaign since at least ’08-09. In total over the last three seasons combined, Harvard has achieved twelve spring regatta wins: three in 2023, five in 2024, and four in 2025. In addition to their recent Marchiando win, they placed fourth at the Dellenbaugh Trophy Women’s Team Race and have finished among the top five teams in four out of five spring weekends so far.
The upcoming Fowle Trophy holds added significance after last year’s championship came down to a final race between Harvard and Yale; both teams had identical records before Yale claimed victory. Returning competitors for Harvard include skippers Justin Callahan, Mitchell Callahan and Robby Meek along with crew members Rosella Irfan and Christina Chen. Meanwhile at Yale’s Women’s Team Race event last year, Harvard tied for second place with Brown behind hosts Yale.
Notably absent from domestic competition is junior Robby Meek who is currently representing US Sailing internationally at Spain’s Trofeo Princesa Sofia Regatta as part of an American group competing through April 4.
Looking ahead beyond this weekend’s events, Harvard plans to participate next week in additional championships including the Legler Trophy for NEISA Women’s Team Racing Championship as well as Thompson Trophy Team Race and Central Series 4 Fleet Race.
