Harvard announced on Mar. 18 that its sailing teams will participate in two local regattas this weekend, with the Duplin Trophy Team Race hosted by Tufts University and the Friis Trophy Team Race taking place at Harvard. Both events are scheduled for March 21-22.

These competitions are significant as they offer Harvard an opportunity to continue its strong performance from earlier in the season and maintain its top rankings. The team has shown consistent results, including recent victories and high placements at major regattas.

The weather forecast for both events predicts mostly cloudy skies with temperatures around 45-48 degrees Fahrenheit. Winds at the Duplin Trophy in Medford, Massachusetts, are expected to come from the south on Saturday at 7-10 knots and shift to west-northwest on Sunday at 10-13 knots. For the Friis Trophy in Cambridge, similar conditions are expected, with winds ranging from 6-13 knots over the weekend.

Last year, Harvard finished third at both the Duplin and Friis Trophies. The team returns six of seven sailors from last year’s Duplin lineup, including Peyton Hadfield as crew for the top boat, along with Kate Danielson-Amelie Zucker and Zoey Ziskind-Katherine Shin/Theresa Straw. From last year’s Friis Trophy squad, skippers Justin Callahan, Mitchell Callahan, Robby Meek, and three of five crew members—Christina Chen, Rosella Irfan, and Aidan Pesce—are back this season.

Harvard is coming off a successful weekend where it won both the Graham Hall Trophy Team Race in Annapolis with a record of 21-2 and the CofC Women’s Team Race with a record of 14-2. These wins bring Harvard’s total victories to eleven for the current academic year (2025-26), including four wins this spring alone without finishing outside the top five in any event so far. In national rankings released on March 2 by Sail1Design Team Rankings, Harvard holds first place in the coed poll and fifth place among women’s teams.

Looking ahead, Harvard plans to send groups to compete at Brown University’s Dellenbaugh Trophy Women’s Team Race and MIT’s Marchiando Trophy Team Race on March 28-29.
