Harvard University’s sailing team achieved notable results over the weekend in Rhode Island, securing first place at the Liam O’Keefe ’26 Team Race Trophy and a top-five finish at the Harvard Women’s Team Race.
The Crimson won the Liam O’Keefe ’26 Team Race Trophy for the second year in a row, finishing with a perfect 7-0 record. The event is named in honor of former Brown sailor Liam O’Keefe. During one day of racing, Harvard achieved three 1-2-3 finishes against University of Rhode Island, MIT, and Tufts.
Weather conditions included temperatures in the mid-40s and mostly southern winds, allowing for nearly a full day of competition. The Harvard team consisted of skippers Justin Callahan, Mitchell Callahan, and Robby Meek. Crew members were Christina Chen, Aidan Pesce, Rosella Irfan, and Jacob Posner.
On the following day at the Harvard Women’s Team Race, Harvard recorded a 4-4 result to tie for fourth place with Tufts. Yale, Brown, and Dartmouth each finished with a 7-1 record at this one-day regatta. Two of Harvard’s victories were secured with 1-2-3 finishes against Brown and Tufts.
Harvard’s first two boats were skippered by Kate Danielson and Sophia Montgomery with assistance from Katherine Shin and Christina Chen throughout all eight races. Zoey Ziskind skippered the third boat with Hanah Youn, Peyton Hadfield, and Skyler Reading as crew during the regatta.
The Crimson is scheduled to compete next weekend at three events: the Jen Harris Women’s Team Race, the Wood Trophy Team Race, and the Icebreaker Invitational.
