Harvard Sailing secured victories at both the Yale Women’s Team Race and the NEISA Open Team Race Championship for the Fowle Trophy, according to an April 6 announcement. The Crimson achieved its eighth win of the spring season, marking a record number of victories in program history.

The significance of these wins lies in Harvard’s consistent performance throughout the season and its qualification for further national competition. The team’s success also underscores its dominance in collegiate sailing this year.

At the Yale Women’s Team Race held in New Haven, Connecticut, Harvard finished with a 6-2 record. The Crimson tied with Brown and Roger Williams but claimed first place due to tiebreaker rules. Key sailors included Kate Danielson, Katherine Shin, Amelie Zucker, Sophia Montgomery, Hanah Youn, Zoey Ziskind, and Peyton Hadfield. The team posted strong results early on before closing out with two losses but maintained enough points to secure victory over Brown.

In Cranston, Rhode Island at the NEISA Open Team Race Championship for the Fowle Trophy, Harvard dominated a field of twelve teams by finishing with a 20-1 record—five races ahead of second-place Brown. This win grants Harvard an automatic bid to compete at the ICSA Open Team Race National Championship later this month in New Orleans. Robby Meek and Aidan Pesce led several races in A-division; Justin Callahan skippered B-boat alongside teammates including Xavier Ayala-Vermont and Christina Chen; Mitchell Callahan managed C-division duties.

These achievements are notable as they follow several years where Harvard narrowly missed first place at NEISA events—finishing second or third from 2022 through 2025. With this momentum, Harvard now aims to defend its ICSA Open Team Race National Championship title for what could be its third championship win in four years (2023 and 2025 previously).

Looking ahead, Harvard will participate in three regattas next weekend: two local events—the Legler Trophy for NEISA Women’s Team Racing Championship in Medford and Central Series 4 Fleet Race on the Charles River—and one away event at New London’s Thompson Trophy Team Race.
