Harvard’s skiing teams are preparing for the Williams Carnival after their recent performance at the Vermont Carnival. The Alpine team will compete at Jiminy Peak in Hancock, Massachusetts, with the Grand Slalom scheduled for Friday and the Slalom on Saturday. The Nordic team will participate in the 15k freestyle event on day one and a 3×5 classic relay on day two, held in Woodford, Vermont.
During their last competition, Meredith Schwartz led Harvard’s Nordic women by finishing seventh on day one. Clara Lake also placed in the top 20 with a 15th-place result. On the men’s side, Bennett Hutchison finished 19th on day two.
Duncan Armstrong achieved a personal best by placing fourth in the men’s giant slalom at Vermont, missing a podium spot by just .01 seconds. Skylar Sheppard was Harvard’s top finisher in the women’s giant slalom, taking 14th place. Luke Kearing placed 16th in the men’s slalom.
The Crimson roster consists of 24 skiers—12 each for alpine and Nordic events—with representation from all undergraduate classes. Seniors include Luke Kearing, Hayden McJunkin, and Olyvia Snyder from the Class of 2026. Six first-year athletes have joined as part of the Class of 2029: Braden Bellizzi, Caleb Boyce, Caroline Collins, Logan Cuddy, Maya Eisner, and Tristan Leightell.
Nordic skiing alumnus Rémi Drolet has qualified to represent Team Canada at the 2026 Milano Cortina Winter Olympics. Drolet previously competed at the Olympics in 2022 and concluded his Harvard career as a three-time All-American and NCAA Champion. In his recent Olympic appearances so far this season, he finished 42nd in Skiathlon and 56th in the sprint final.
Harvard has sent both alpine and Nordic skiers to compete at NCAA Championships over each of its last five competitive seasons. Duncan Armstrong returns this year after qualifying for NCAAs in 2025.
Head Coach Scott MacPherson is leading Harvard Alpine Skiing into his ninth season during 2025-26. He has twice been named EISA Coach of the Year (2019-20 and 2022-23). Cate Brams is entering their second season as head coach for Harvard Nordic Skiing.
After Williams Carnival concludes this weekend, Harvard will travel to Middlebury for NCAA regionals starting February 20 in Vermont.
